Our temporary power meter had a plug for 240V (30A) and also a couple of 20A GFCI protected outlets - shown below.Well, perhaps the best way, if access allows, new wire can be run that has a ground.

Before installing a new electrical service on a house you will typically need temporary power.

Your house has old wiring, and your outlets don't have the third slot for the ground prong. How do you go about adding a ground wire or ground connection to your outlets? Then if there are any wires inside the appliance that get loose, and make contact with the casing, the current will flow through the ground wire, instead of you.

Appliances that have the third prong for the ground, have a portion of the equipment, or casing connected to that ground prong.

In fact, one of the first utilities you'll want to get connected on your construction site is power.

We installed a temporary power meter in the ground near the power company transformer by our cabin (give the utility company a call and see where they want you to place it if you don't know).
